Handmade Quilts
. . . I'd rather be quilting...
I have been happily sewing for 50 years and quilting for the past 11. The
T shirt quilt I make is a very traditional one. Materials (fabric, thread,
batting) are 100% cotton and the very best quality available --- with care
your quilt can last 100 years "to be treasured by your children's children"
I do every part of the work myself on a good old Bernina home sewing
machine. The piecing and hand-guided quilting are done by machine and the
binding is finished by hand at 6 stitches per inch. Most quilts take 40-60
hours from designing the layout to signing the label --- and can be done in
less than 2 weeks.
PS. I am a perfectionist and I have a good eye for choosing fabrics.
Your quilt will be "a piece of my (he)art"
What does it take to get a quilt started?
- Basically I need 9 adult sized shirts - preferably ones that have been
worn and washed many times.
- We then choose 2 fabrics that you LOVE for the backing and borders.
- The finished quilt will be approx 65 inches square, which is a good size
for a nap, throw or picnic blanket.
- Your quilt will be washable and dryable in your home machines, like any
good linens.
- Materials cost approx $150 and my labor starts at $400.
Call me and we can discuss your quilt.

| This is an example of a quilt that I just finished. It fits all the criteria that I described. The memories that a quilt arouses are priceless. |
